How the AI assistant works
The AI assistant is a chat in Repca, available once you sign in. It explains words, finds examples, suggests how to remember the hard ones, and at your request adds cards and edits decks. You do not need to connect an AI agent of your own for this.
How to open it
- The mascot icon in the app header, or ⌘I (Ctrl+I on Windows and Linux).
- Ask AI in a card panel, for your own card or one from the library: the chat opens with that card.
- During a study session, the Ask button on the card appears only after Show: a hint before the answer would replace the recall, and your rating would no longer be honest.
The panel stays open when you move between pages: you can ask about a card during a study session, then open the deck and carry on.
What the assistant sees on screen
The open deck, the card in the side panel or the study card. Its name is shown in a chip above the input, so “Explain the meaning” refers to it without repeating the word. The cross on the chip sends the message without the card. The same chip stays next to your question in the chat, so you can see what you asked about.
The assistant answers in the interface language unless you write in another one, and gives examples in the deck's language. It does not treat the back of a card as a translation: it may be a definition, a synonym or the answer to a question.
Changes only with your consent
The assistant can look through your decks and cards on its own. Adding cards, fixing a card or adding to its note, moving or copying cards to another deck, creating a deck, changing its name, description and language or taking it out of study happen only after you confirm. First the chat shows what will change: the list of new cards, or an edit shown as “before → after”. Apply makes the change, and the lists on screen refresh by themselves. Reject leaves everything as it was.
The assistant cannot delete decks or cards — you do that in the app.
Request limit
One message is one AI request, however many steps the answer takes. Apply is not counted separately, and if the answer did not start because of an error, the request is not counted. You can see what is left under Settings → Subscription. When the requests run out, the input is replaced with the date they renew and a link to the plans.
Chats
Conversations are saved. The chat list opens from the title in the panel header, and a chat is deleted there too. The pencil button starts a new chat.
